The founder of a church, Perfect Christianity Mission, Pastor Sign Fireman, whose real name is Ofuche Ukoha, had been arrested on suspision of murder on April was finally absolved on March 28. The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP, gave legal advice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigations Department (M.A.K. Smith Street, Yaba) to free Pastor Sign Fireman of complicity in the murder of a 12-year-old girl. The legal advice, dated Feb. 27, was signed by Ms Olayide Eboda on behalf of the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ade Ipaye. A 12-year-old Ogoja was allegedly strangled to death by a 18-year-old suspect Ikechukwu Egbo in Badagry, Lagos State on Dec. 31, 2013. A policeman attached to the Ogun State Police Command, Corporal Sunkanmi Ogunbiyi, went on the rampage on Thursday in Abeokuta, killing six people, including his wife and a two-year-old child. Ogunbiyi, who worked at the State Criminal Investigation Department, was said to be having matrimonial problems with his wife Oluwatosin Faremi, who was also a police corporal attached to Obantoko Police Division, Abeokuta. An Argentine woman has died after allegedly injecting Vaseline into her breasts, as a means of performing a breast augmentation procedure on herself. Sonia Perez Llanzon, 39, suffered pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in her lungs), and died some weeks after she reportedly injected herself with petroleum jelly. Llanzon visited a Santa Rosa hospital after she had started to experience difficulty breathing. According to the doctors, she initially tried to deny the fact that she injected herself with Vaseline. However, upon further interrogation, she later admitted what she had done. The Senate has confirmed today the appointment of the new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele. Emefiele will replace Lamido Sanusi, who was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan on charges of “financial recklessness and misconduct”, while some are sure the case was politicized. The appointment was approved unanimously, after which the Senate president David Mark said: " Emefiele will ensure the prerequisite responsibilities of the central bank governor without fear or favour." It would be recalled that Sanusi was suspended soon after he had accused the state-owned oil company of corruption, which statement contained in the leaked letter. His suspension came just several months before the legal end of his 5-year-term (June). Zenith Bank boss Emefiele's emergence as a candidate became surprising for the market watchers who said he was a low-profile, conservative figure who was unlikely to rock the boat.

A 19-year-old  student, Fidelis Ojor, was remanded in Keffi Prison by an Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court in Karu, FCT on Wednesday. Ojor is charged with the attempted rape of a minor as he lured a three-year-old girl into his house where he attempted to defy her. The case was reported to the police on Jan. 21 by Mr Chibueze Okereke, the girl’s father. The man further alleged that the accused forcefully inserted his finger into the girl's private part, leaving her with bruises and severe pains. The offence contravened section 285 of the Penal Code, which prescribed a seven-year jail term for attempted rape if found guilty. The defender, Egbaji, asked for bail, stating that “the accused is a promising young man, who has unfortunately become a victim of this allegation’’. For its part the prosecutor, Sgt.
