93-year-old accused of raping four sisters carried to Court

A frail geriatric accused of raping four young sisters had to be carried into court by other inmates.
Karl Joseph Kraus, 93, was lifted off a prison bus and placed into a wheelchair before appearing Monday in the dock in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The German-born Australian citizen — who claims to be suffering from cancer and dementia — is accused of assaulting the girls, aged between 7 and 15, in 2010. Despite the former railwayman's supposed array of illnesses, which his lawyers say should see the case dropped, he managed to flee to Myanmar after being arrested later that year.
He was deported back to Thailand for not having a valid visa. And local media reports that, while out on bail, he was often seen driving and "in good health." Cops allege that Kraus first met the four girls in 2008 and offered to teach them English.
But the children told their parents he had attacked them. Police launched an investigation, raided his home and said they found child porn on his computer. Kraus denies the allegations.
