275 Constituencies Vote Against Presidential Rotation

A report by the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee on Constitution Amendment shows that majority of a peoples public session voted against the rotation of the office of the president between the north and southern part of the country.
In the session conducted by the committee on constitution, a total of 275 constituencies out of the 360 constituencies in the country voted against the rotation.
The survey also revealed that 210 constituencies voted against the rotation of the office of the president amongst the six geo political zones.
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal who received the report promised that the yearnings of Nigerians will be reflected in the amended constitution.
Some of the issues raised in the template include states creation, citizenship and indigenship, zoning and power sharing.
Meanwhile, a group of women who felt that issues that affect women and girls were not adequately addressed in the amendment of the constitution asked for a review.
Augustine Onwumaegbu, who spoke to Channels Television concerning laws surrounding people living with disability, said that the amended constitution will help alleviate their plight.
The House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the Constitution is expected to commence legislative works with its senate counterpart to amend the constitution.
