Man sent to prison for riding unregistered motorcycle


An Ikare-Akoko Senior Magistrate Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man, Ola Ayodeji, to one month imprisonment for riding a motorcycle without registration number.
He was brought to court on two count charge of riding a motorcycle without registration number and a driver’s licence.
The accused pleaded guilty to all the charges when they were read to him. The prosecutor, Corporal Omaye Sunday, told the court that Ayodeji was caught riding a motorbike in front of the Divisional Police Station, Igbede, Ikare-Akoko without a registration number,even as he said the accused also failed to produce a driver’s licence when asked to do so.
According to the prosecutor, Ayodele was subsequently charged to court after police concluded investigations and obtained a statement from him. In her ruling, Senior Magistrate Anjola-Ayeni said the prosecution has proved its case beyond all reasonable doubts, adding that the accused also pleaded guilty.
She therefore found Ayodeji guilty as charged while sentencing him to a month in prison with fine option of N1, 500 on each of the two counts.
The accused was also ordered to produce the valid vehicle registration particulars before the motorcycle could be released to him.
