Nasarawa Judge Sentences Teen To Jail Then Pays N700 Fine For Him

A judge of Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State sentenced an 18-year-old teenager to four years of imprisonment, but then changed his mind, showed mercy and even paid a fine on behalf of the convict.
The Presiding Judge, Mr Albert Maga, sentenced the resident of Aso, Mararaba, Victor Emmanuel, to jail for criminal trespass and theft of a Blackberry Curve 7 cell phone.
He also gave an option of N700 fine to the young labourer, who pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
In a surprising development, the judge displayed his big heart, paid the fine for the accused and urged him to repent and get close to God.
It would be recalled that Victor stole Blackberry cell phone on April 13, 2014, from a hotel room, while its owner was asleep. The convict was later arrested with the cell phone in Aso Pada by the police on April 16, 2014.
