GOC Orders Arrest Of Soldiers Who Deserted Their Duty Posts In Biita
Major General JS Zaruwa, the General Officer Commanding the
3rd Army Division in Jos on Friday ordered the arrest of soldiers who
deserted Biita, Borno State after Boko Haram retaliation attack.

The GOC gave the command when he paid a visit to his home in the area
and discovered that soldiers where roaming the streets of Michika,
Adamawa State.
It would be recalled that last week, soldiers killed about 50
insurgents members at Biita in an ambushed, after which the Islamist
sect carried out a revenge mission.
According to SaharaRepoters, the GOC saw the soldiers with their
riffles hung on their back in a popular brothel called “Bolingo”, and in
a reaction told the commanding Officer of the Special Operations
Battalion who is also the commanding officer, Lt. Colonel BMG Martins to
call his men to order or place them under arrest.
It was gathered that the commanding officer then ordered some unit
commanders to restraint the soldiers but unfortunately nothing was
done.
However, a team of the army involved in intelligence gathering in the
area revealed that discipline has become a problem among the soldiers
in the area as most of them no longer listen to their superiors and
unconditionally abandoning fighting positions.
The deserted soldiers, whom the Islamist sect drove from their posts
in Biita and Izge-Damboa in Borno state, on their own part explained
that there was not enough equipment to fight the terrorist, revealing
that the army has only one functioning armored tank in the whole area,
and it has been deployed to Vimtin, Mubi local government area of
Adamawa State which happens to be the hometown of Air Vice Marshal Alex
Badeh, Nigeria's Chief of Defense Staff. The soldiers insisted on
staying in Michika until they were adequately equipped.
